Oct 31, 2013 · Your GPU is doing exactly what it's designed to do. When you're running a game or a benchmark it will run at its maximum set clock speed. When you're web browsing or idling or not doing anything too graphically intensive it throttles itself back to a far lower clock speed. Open the Nvidia control panel and under "manage 3d settings" set Power management mode to optimal power then restart your pc and open GPU Tweak II, the clock speeds should be throttled at idle.
